VANCOUVER MAIL SERVICE.

CANADA AND AUSTRALIA. RETALIATION. By Telegrnpii.— PiTSs Association.— Copyright. LONDON, 18th December. Comments by the Ministerial press in Ottawa confirm the first report that it was the intention of the Canadian Government to, retaliate upon Australia for refusing to give special consideration to the Dominion in framing the new tariff. Tho Toronto Globe declares that the giving of a bonus to a steamship line to Australia, where the cost of passing goods through the Custom-house exceeds the cost of froight for a voyage round the world, would bo too palpably illogical for Canadian policy. The Globe adds : "It would be foolish activity to pay simultaneously to get goods in and to keep goods out." *
