Owing to »a cjisis in the Portuguese wine trade vino planting has been prohibited for three years. Wine is the most important product of Portugal. In 1904 the total imports of wino from all countries into the- United Kingdom amounted to 12,347,194 gallons, valued at £3,822,206 ; Portugal sent 22.6 per cent of that quantity, valued at 22.4 per cent.
