When fines were paid the official, it is alleged, pocketed th-= moneys and entered on tho papers : "Gone to gaol." It is said thnt tho alloged defalcations approximate four figures. Surprise is expressed that no Jocal member has raised a question in Parliament as to why criminal proceedings were not instituted by the Justice Department.
