A DISTRESSING FATALITY.

A shocking accident occurred at Port Moeraki to-day, when Mr. William Henry Hutcheson, civil engineer and surveyor, met with .death under most distressing circumstances. Mr. Hutcheson was bathing with his son this morning in about 3ft of water, when he suddenly said, "Get ashore .quickly, I'm bitten." He had been bitten by a shark. The flesh of the right leg was stripped off to the bone. He struggled ashore, but died almost immediately from shock and loss of blood. Mr. Hutcheson was fifty-five years of age. He leaves a widow -and two sons. The accident was witnessed by his wife and mother.
