SHIPPING CASUALTIES.
AN ABANDONED BARQUE. [PBKSS ABSUOI AXIOM. 1 ADELAIDE, 4th February. The steamer Midgard, Which arrived hero to-day, reports sighting on 26th January, twenty miles north- west 6i Lord Howe Island, the barquo Maeldwyn, 1285 tons, Captain Thomas, Which sailed from Pisco (Peru) on 17th Npvember for 1 Sydney for orders. Tho barque was dismasted and abandoned, there being no sign of any- of the crew. (Received February 6, 7.57 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. It 's considered probable that tho Maeldwyn's crew has landed at Lord Howe Island. The Macldwyn's masts were gone and her decks swept. She was driving away from the island. The Midgard kept in close proximity for some time, but was unable to gc on board owing to the rough weather. ACCIDENT TO THE MONGOLIA. (Received February 5, 9.26 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day.
