RELATIONS BETWEEN UNITED STATES AND CANADA. ImtSS AUSOVJUTIOH.^ LONDON, 4th February. The New York correspondent of The Times say 3 some realisation is shown by tho American press that tho United States must show a more conciliatory disposition if complete settlement of differences with Canada is desired. The correspondent visited Ontario and heard it remarked that Mr. Root's present visit to Canada may Bring about a diplomatic opportunity to settle outstanding questions — an opportunity which, if provided, would be speedily embraced.
