THE POWER OF IMAGINATION.
Thero is tj great deal of imagination about; medicine. Jones once had an experience he'll never forget. There was a man named Coates, who used to go to a certain publichouse in the city once in a while to lay in three or four botles of milk punch. One day he left his cab outside the place, and three or four of his friends who had seen him go in cam© along and happened to see a bottleful on the seat. Bo they had a good drink all round. They were sitting at tho bar afterwards when Coates came in. "I say you fellows," he said, "what dye thinks happened ? Some idiot drank up a bottle of embrocation that was in my cab." "Embrocation?" said Jones, turning a bit white. "Yes," says Coates, "smell the bottle. ' Jones put his noso to the bottle. He didn't say anything ; but he just gotrup ami went out. The other fellows began to feel pretty bad. They didn't say much either; but. ono by one thoy wont outside, and when they camo back they were looking pale, but feeling better. However, they were all laid up within a week, and very likely they would never have got better unless Coates happened to come along ono day. "That tunny man wasn't such an idiot after all," he said. "It was milk Ceh in that bottle all right, but it an embrocation cork." Jones said it just showed how much imagination had to do with tho effect of things on a man. He said he pretty nearly killed Coate3.
It is said that at least 450,000 meteors fall from tho heavens and strike tha earth every horn* during tho year ; and yet, when a man goes home with a damaked hat and tels his wife that ho was struck by a meteor she will not-, believe- him 1 ' • "*
