The gay and exhilarating pastime o? toboganning is at present a sonsalion rcsorvfed for visitors to the Exhibition. Endeavours, however, are being made to have a toboggan erected in or near Wellington. At the meeting of the City Council last evening the following letter was Tead from Messrs. John Petrie and W. P. Johnson: —"Wo hereby apply to kare for a term of years the- islet known as 'Island Bay' for the purpose of connecting it with tho mainland by aerial tram, to lie used as a- toboggan or holiday amusement for the Wellington people and for visitors, on which it is proposed to levy small charges. Wo would point out that in the event of your council granting our application wo aro in a position to erect a safe and amusing transport to and from the island; that such amusement would add to the attractiveness of Island Bay, and should greatly increaso traffic revenue on your clcctiiC '.lan.*!." In the event of the application being granted, the writers agreed to put their scheme, with scale of proposed charges, otc, before tho council.
