A MILLION TO CHARITY.
THE LATE MR. WHITELEY. IPMS9 ASSOCIATION.! (Receivea February 1, 7.4 i a.m.) LONDON, 31st January* The late Mr. Whiteley bequeathed a million pounds to provide almhouses and homea for tbe deserving poor. Thousands of employees atte»d.ed the funeral at Kensal Green. Many of the shops were closed. A quarter of a million spectators watched the procession. (Received February 1, 9,5 a.m.) LONDON, 31st January. Mr Whiteley's estate is valued at about a million and a half pounds. He has bequeathed £12,000 for hospital benevolence purposes and £5000 for the promotion of outdoor sports.
