"It is a remarkably fine shpw, which I hope , all classes in New Zealand will tako' the opportunity of seeing," remarked the '.Minister for Public WorkG to a Post reporter this morning. "It is not likely," he added, "that we shall have another such exhibition in tho colony for many years to. come. There arc exhibits there to satisfy all classes of the community, and the educational value must be very considerable both to tho individual and the colony. There have been some absurd reports in regard to tho accommodation available in ■Christchurch, and the charges made by hotelkccpcrs ' and private boardinghouse keepers. Thero is nothing in this," remarked Mr. Hall Jones. "Any visitor can obtain accommodation at a hotel from 6s a day upwards, and iat private boarding-houses from £1 to 25s a week. Thi3 rumour ha 3 possibly caused many peoplo to hesitate about visiting the exhibition. "Everything is working well," continued tho Minister, "and arrangements have been made for various functions which will have the effect of keeping up the attendance. So far the results nave boon satisfactory, and we are looking forward to a largo attendance during the holidays. Everything is working vory' smoothly, and tho commissioners j and committeemen have expressed their willingness to advise me upon any mati ters connected' with the exhibition." • 'As to, the quality of the exhibition buildings, to which exception has been taken, the Minister said they had been | built to, last six months, which, of course, was not a permanent class* of structure. All the material, however, would be of considerable value after the exhibition was over. There was a tremendous quantity of iron and timber, which would be suitable for other buildings, and should realise a largo sum.
