The best pulla of the evening took place between teams representing the Sanatorium and Moonshine Sawmill. With a stone per man in their favour, -the Sanatorium heavyweights were unable to move their opponents a hair's breadth until after a heavy strain lasting 25£ minutes, when the extra weight began to tell, and the sawmilleTS were obliged to give way. It was a splendid exhibition of endurance and strength. The pull between tho Sana-, torium and Moonshine lightweights was even more evenly contested, thero being only 81b in favour of the former. Neither team could shift the other. At the start the Sanatorium gained about seven inchts, but this was gradually roduced to an. even rope. Both teams remained- immovable until the time limit (40mins) wa& reached, when the Sanatorium team had an advantage of about one inch. Thus tho -sawmillers were again defeated.
