SECOND TEST MATCH. ANOTHER WIN FOR AUSTRALIA. [press association.! MELBOURNE, 7th November. The second test match, New Zealand v. Australia, was played this afternoon at Albert Park, th© . visitors suffering defeat by ten points. Four of tihe New Zealanders — Hancock, Rankin, Lefevre, and Taylor — left for home to-day, and as others disappointed Wheeler, he had to play, though only just recovering from an attack of influenza. The match was played in fine Aveather, and the turf and all appointments were delightful. The New Zealanders say the green is the best in the Commonwealth. M'Laren's rink had a magnificent win against Tasmania, their scores in individual heads including two fives and a cix. .The brilliancy of the rink was due to Gillies, and almost secured a win for N<jw Zealand, but Wheeler's indisposition resulted in his rink being defeated by New South Wales by 24 points, and this turned the tide against the visitors. A splendid recovery was made, by Payne against Waxman. Payne picked up ten in two heads. He took out Waxman's shot bowl with a beautiful drive, scoring six, and followed this up in the' next head with a similar shot, scoring four. Totals — Australia, 155; New Zealand 145. ; After the match Mr. Wood, president of the Victorian Association, complimented the New Zealanders on their improved form. The Melbourne bowling tournament was continued to-day, \*hen the second round of the Australasian champion singles was played. The weather was fine and the green in good order.
