ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
♦ [BT TELEGRAPH. — FBSSS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, 21st June. An old man named John Taylor died suddenly just before the friendly societies' service commenced at the Choral 'Hall to-day. He was sitting on the platform and suddenly fell over, and died when being carried out. He was a retired civil servant, formerly holding the position of an inspector in the railway workshops. An inquest was -held to-day upon the. body of David Kflgour, who died yesterday while tinder chloroform. Evidence given by Drs. 8011, Dudley, and Gordon was to the effect that the deceased became violent under the influence of chloroform, and then ceased breathing. Artificial respiration was tried without avail. Certain organs of the deceased's 'heart were diseased. The jury returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence — namely, failure of the heart's action as the result of chloroform pro.perlv administered. DUNEDIN, 21st June. 'Henry Wiliamson, residing in Roslyn, was reoeived into the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. He was "out shooting at 'Halfway Bush, and in getting throngh some gorse his gun went off, the charge lodging in the abdomen. His condition is considered serious.
