COLLISION IN A HARBOUR.
RESULT OF AN ENQUIRY. [FBKSS ASSOCIATION^ SYDNEY, 19th June. The enquiry . has, concluded into the collision on 31st May between the North Coast Steam Navigation Company's steamer Electra, 395 tons, Captain Beach, and the tug Energy, at) North Head, when the tug was sunk and the Electra considerably damaged. The finding of the court is that the lights on tfhe Energy were not burning brightly enough, and that the deckhand in charge of the Energy failed to see the Electra, owing probably to being asleep at his post, fhe result of being on duty an unreasonably long time. The captains of both the Electra. and Energy are exonerated from blame. The court is strongly of opinion thai) tugs should carry at least one certificated officer in addition to the master. A CLAIM AND COUNTER-CLAIM. (Received June 20, 9.33 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The ownerß of the Energy are claiming £3000 for the loss of tQie tug, While the owners of the steamer Electra counterclaim for £750 for damage to the steamer.
