UNPLEASANT INCIDENT IN EGYPT. 'A CAPTAIN KILLED. IFHES* ASSOCIATION .1 CAIRO, 15th June. While a body of British troops were marching from Cairo to Alexandria, five officers entered a village near Tantah to shoot pigeons. An official instigated the matter, whereuponHhe villagers surrounded them with guns and assaulted them with bludgeons. Captain Bull, of the Inniakillings, succumbed to injuries received. Two other officers were badly hurt. CAUSE OF THE TROUBLE. LONDON, 16th June. The Daily Mail's Cairo correspondent states that village notables invited the officers to shoot pigeons. x The villagers interfered, and tried to disarm the officers. A threshing floor at that moment happened to lake- fire, and the natives, unjustifiably blaming the officers, attacked them. Many arrests have been made, and an enquiry opened. EIGHT VILLAGERS WOUNDED. (Received June 16, 9.4 a.m.) CAIRO, 15th June. Eight Egyptian villagers were wounded in the affray. Six have been arrested.
