EASTBOURNE BOROUGH.
* ELECTION OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL. The first Mayor and council of the newly-formed borough of Eastbourne were" elected yesterday. . Mr. F. G. Bolton was elected Mayor, receiving 225 votes as against 93 polled for Mr. J. Coombe and 39 for Mr. Henry Savage, the other candidates. The following was the result of the polling for the councillors :-— Elected— H. W. Shortt 242, Chas. M'Kecgan 238, B. E. Wood 237, J. M. Fleming 232, T. Foley 231, F. W. Mackenzie 230, D. B. Howden 222, G. L. Bannotyno 218. Not elected— J. Danks 179. F. J. Coombe 143, F. Wills 137, Bartolo Russo 124. A number of candidates return thanks, to their supporters through our advertising columns.
