STATE-CONDUCTED FOOTBALLERS.
PROPOSED AMERICAN TOUR BY NEW ZEALAND TEAM. AT COLONY'S EXPENSE.
The following urgent telegraphic memo, came to hand from the Premier this afternoon :—: — • "Greymouth, 30th December. — Ministers have under confederation a proposal (if it can be arranged) for the New Zealand football team to come back to the colony via Canada and America, the expense to be borne by the colony. It would be a treat for them and a courtesy and mark of ;ippreciation by New Zealand of tfie worthy manner they have represented New Zealand football in the Mother Country. The manager of the team is in communication with tho football authorities in the colony."
