[BY ELECXBIO TELEGRArH. — COPYBIOHT.] • EARTHQUAKES IN ITALY. * SEVERAL TOWNS PARTIALLY DESTROYED. MANY PEOPLE HOMELESS. [press association.] (Received September 9, 8.26 a.m.) ROME, Btli September. A violent earthquake almost destroyed Pezzo (a seaport in the province of Caianzaro, with a population, of over eight thousand), Monteleone (in the same province, with ten thousand inhabitants) and Martirano (twenty-two miles vest of Catanzaro, with a population of three thousand). There are many victims, and a large number of people are homeless. Twenty-seven prisoners in a gaol at Monteleone were injured. Alarming shocks were also felt at Messina (a seaport with an excellent harbour) and Reggio (a cathedral city, situated in the Strait of Messina.)
