In responding .to the toaat of " Parliament " afc the luncheon given by members of both Houses afc Westminster Hall to Admiral Caillard and his officers, ■the Right Hon. John Morley, Liberal member for Montroso Burghs, -and exChief Secretary for Ireland, Temarked on the differences .the two 'great historic parties had seen in foreign affairs. Many of them, he said, .had been profound, and' might be so again; but to-day all were of one mind. Thsy all ardently welcomed the great, far-reaching significance of that gathering, Tecognising tbat on tho union of Franco 'and Britain the whole world's progress most depended. Nothing was more alien to ths thoughts of either country than 'that sparks from the furnace of .the British-French entente Should 6efc Europe a-fire.
The Chronicle says : — Mr. Balfour and Mr. Morley shaT© in a firm resolve to treat the entente ac an instrument of peace. We may bo sure diplomacy is busy at St. Petersburg and Tokio in urging moderation on both parties.
