A witness, grwng evidencs before the Land Commission, said he paid £900 to Peter Close, a member of a Sydney firm, to "jog tho memory" of the Land Department to expedite the gazetting of leases."
Another witness paid Willis £250 whether he secured a lea3s or not, and offered to present a further £1250 if tho lease was seemed. Willis got £1500.
