Sir, — I was glad to note " Paul Pry " taking -an interest in, the above, and, like him, I am afraid any outside suggestions will be taken 'lightly by the Council and staff, as the staff contains an official who knows all (<?) about gardening, and will tolerate no interference from outsiders. Therefore, I hope "Paul Pry" ifiay not be under any delusions when he states every one knows 1 something about horticulture and arboriculture. I should be glad if the Council could be persuaded to advertise for suggestions from any one interested, as I feel sure that in this case counsel 1 might be taken with advantage. ' Any one possession a meagre knowledge of the native flora cannot fail to know that there are 6ufn cient gensra and species that would prove suitable to withstand the winds that are prevalent in this district, without introducing .genera and species from other countries.
