ITEMS FOR THE QUARTER. The statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Consolidated Fund ' for the June quarter (the first quarter of the new financial year) has just been giizetfed. * The balance-sheet shows territorial revenue yielded £29,522 (£7702 from cash land sales, £254 from deferred payment land sales, and £21,565 from pastoral runs, rents, and miscellaneous), as against £23,283 for the June quarter of 1904. The following, in round figures, were the receipts from ordinary revenue during the quarter, comparison figures for the same quarter of the previous year being shown in brackets : — Customs £520,506 (£522,850), stamps £231,241 (£232,137), postal and telegraph cash receipts £54,174 (£39,451), land tax £545 (£1470), income tax £3610 l£^301), beer duty £21,308 (£20,979), railways £523,450 (£509,904),' registration and other fees £20,841 (£15,604), marine £7769 (£7985), miscellaneous ?J6/' > 866 (£11,238); -total, £1,412,284, as against £1,370,741 for the previous June quarter. Following are some items, with comparisons, on the expenditure side : — Civil list £10,007 (£8237), interest and suiting fund £831,635 (£813,194"), subsidies paid tb local bodies £965 (£196), «>ld-age pensions £32,500 (£29,603), paid under special Acts of the ' Legislature £■15 839 (£51,567). r ■ The bilances at the end of the quarter were : — 'dash in the public account £586,727 (£293,163), advances in the hands of officers of the Government, in tho colony "£409,161 (£348,145), in London, £79,157 (£80,252), on account of Imperial pensions £475 (£391), on account of other Governments £597 (£651), investment account £100,000 (£303,000).
