General Linevitch's report regarding the outflanking of a Russian force near Taolu and compelling it to retreat towards Itung, coupled with the fact' that the Japanese were reconnoitring at Matouling, near Omopanshan, between TlailungchaJg and Kirin, with skirmishing at Yulang, near Matou Pass, is interpreted as marking a distinct advance of General Kuroki's army against the most southerly portion of the Russian line. The ultimate intention is to concentrate eastwards of Itung, und turn the Russian position. JAPANESE NAVAL MOVEMENTS.
