A MEMBER'S RESIGNATION. BITTER FEELING AROUSED. [press association.] LONDON, 25th November. Mr. Richard Rigg, Liberal member of tne House of Commons for the Appleby division of Westmoreland, has resigned his seat, as he differs from Liberals" regarding the questions of Chinese labour, fiscal reform, alien immigration restriction, and education. The resignation has aroused bitter feeling. A stranger felled Mr. Rigg on his own doorstep, shouting, "You damned Tory!" At the general election in 1900 Mr. Rigg, who was then only 25 years of age, defeated Sir J. Savory (Conservative) by 579 votes.
