WESTLAND EDUCATION BOARD. NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS EXAMINATION FEES.
[BY TELEGRAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION ] HOKITIKA, This Day. The Westland Education Board entered a strong .'protest last evening against the regulation by the Education Department charging an examination fee of five shillings for the National Scholarships, holding that it was against the principle of the Act. It was further decided to pay the fee, if demanded, out of the Board's own funds, so as to enable the poorest child to sit for examination. The Board further considered the dispute with the Audit Department, and resolved to continue the stand it had made and not supply the information asked for until the charges of misappropriation of funds were withdrawn by the Department.
