[By TKLKOHAI'H— ;I'IIESB ASSOCIATION.] CJISBORNE, Bth Scptcmbor. Mr. Justice Edwards referred to tho praetico of Registrars granting probate m wills of deconscd persons. The practice wns ono which had obtained for years. In this connection thero is now a validating Bill beforo .the Houso. His Honour said Mr. Barton, tho Stipendiary Magistrate nt Gisborne, had to bo thanked for calling attention to tho fact that Registrars had roally no power to grant probate. They had done so for years absolutely without jurisdiction, rho other Judgos had agreed that Registrars hod no power to grant probato. Mr, Finn suid that f° ur years ago Mr. Barton montiondd to him that Registrars had no power to grant probate, but tho leg<M profession assured him ho had. ' His Honour : Tho profession wero wrong, and groat credit is duo to Mt. Barton for having tho praetico put right.
