GYMNASIUM DISPLAY.
A gymnnmum display of considerable merit waa given by tho combined classes of Mr. J. W. M. Harrison lost evening for the purpose of illustrating the progress mndo during tho first term of tho sermon, A special fcuturo of tho gymminium is tho Sandow system of dumbbell exercise*. # Tho work of both sexes in this department was highly 6atisfactory, and reflected credit on Instructors and pupils. A programme of fifteen items — comprising exercises for th© acquirement of graceful carriage, sound health, and physical strength-— was gone, through, and each item in its turn proved interesting and called forth applause from a large attendance of spectator*. Amongst the moro " popular items from a spectator's point of viow wero tho wand exercises and club swinging, which were given with a precision which showed that the pupils had taken a wholehearted interest in their work The exercises of a *quad of senior pupils on the parallel bars, the ring*, and the horizontal bar wero really first-cWs. Naturally several pupils stood out prominently above tho others, and gave a diiplay worthy of professionals, still the- average work was good. A combined display whs also given by girls and boys this afternoon, and on Moiuh(y evening the senior pupils will give another entertainment.
