THEFT OF A BRACELET.
ROBBERIES IN AUCKLAND. fPRKSS ASSOCIATION.! AUCKLAND, 24th Juno. A daring burglary wa» perpetrated (fbont 6 o'clock to-night at Mr. A. Holden's jeweller shop in Queen-street. A man smashed a window nnd took a diamond bracelet, valuod at £275, and escaped by pacing through tho back of the adjoining picmi;es, which he hud opened beforehand in preparation for hia flight. The diamond belonged to Mr. C. Cleland, commission agent. The stone is well known to jewellers, and is one of tho largest in the colony. A pearl star, worth £4 10s, was also stolen. The robbery wai. evidently care- * fully planned. It took place in riew of pedestrians, while tho owner of the shop was at tea aoros* tho road. Tho affair created quite a sensation in the city, and & crowd soon gathered round this shop. No arrest has yet l>cen made. Another robbery took place at the rcsldencd of Dr. Moir. VVuile members of tho household were in another part of t h<- ■ building a thiof took £5 from a drawer, getting away undetected.
