The authorities having decided to arrest Robert Sievier, the ex-Auslr.ilian bookmaker, on « chiu'go of pi'ijtuy in conncotion with lm bitnlcruplcy. a warrant w.i.s sent to his re.sidenoe. Sievier, however, surroiukred at Scotland Yard. Ho enquired whether Siv James Duke, waa paying the co-Un of the- prosecution. When charged with poijury in connoctinn with a private examination at the time of liis bnnkrtiptcy in 1898, Sievier declared ho had a, pi'i-fect answer.
