The Nautical Commission which en« quired into tho collision between th« Ellen Ballance and John Anderson has ordered Patrick M'Conville, master of the John Anderson, and Charles Groves, master of the Ellen Ballance, each to pay half the cosfcj of the enquiry and thoir own costs. ■ AUCKLAND, 27th January. At the annual meeting of the Auckland Law Society to-day attention was called to the fact that statutes passed) in October were not procurable in Auckland! in complete form till tho end of J&nuary, which caused much inconvenience to tho profession. The matter i» to ba brought before the Government. The membership of the society is 62, of whom 54 have taken out barristers' certificateaj DUNEDIN, 27th January. At a meeting of tho Dock Trust to-daji a Dock Committee was set up to furtheo the construction of the proposed n««l dock at Port Chalmers.
