He said that now that the glamour of war had disappeared, it was imperative to show that the national enthusiasm was not a mere passing excitement. Lord Cheylesmore appealed to employers to find the men places, and to the public to provide them with money and clothes. General Sir H. Trotter, Commander of the Home District, seconded the appeal, dwelling upon the excellent character of most of the men.
