Farrar, Albu, Tangermann, and Chaplin have been appointed a sub-committee by the Chamber of Mines at Johannesburg to prepare a report on the mining industry for presentation to Mr. Chamberlain. Many influential mining magnates favour a tax on dividends. MR. KRUGER'S DESIRE TO RETURN. BAIL FOR GOOD CONDUCT OFFERED. LONDON, 10th December. Two of Mr. Kruger's friends have offered bail of a hundred thousand pounds each if he is allowed to return to South Africa. STOCK FOR TRANSVAAL FARMS. Agents of the British Government have collected thousands of mules and horses at Lathrop, in Missouri, for shipment in the middle of January to re-stock the Transvaal farms. Many thousands are still required. DURBAN'S FLOATING DOCK. (Received December 31 0 a m.) CAPETOWN, iOtu Dec Port Durban is replacing the floating dock which watr wrecked in the late severe storm by another, capable of lifting a vessel of 8500 tons.
