Sir Edmund Barton, Federal Premier, ■tates that he is unaware of any offer of the Governor« Generalship of the Commonwealth having been made to Lord Tennyson for such a period as he would be likely to accept. The Home authorities do not anticipate being able to make a permanent appointment for several months.
