KANAKAS IN QUEENSLAND.
PETITION TO THE IMPERIAL GOVERNMENT. [PJUBS ASSOCIATION.] LONDON, 9th Augutt. Lord Onilow (Under-Secretary for the Colonies) replying to Lord Lamington, said that a petition he had received from Pacific Islanders domiciled in Queensland was most pathetic. Personally, he had very great sympathy with the petitioners. He had every hope that provision would be made for those repatriated. The Government would do its utmost to persuade tho Commonwealth Governmsnt to care for their interests and ensure their security.
