The Full Court gave judgment in the case of a man charged with stealing a. letter^ wherein & point was taken that as the crime was committed against a Federal Department the State had no jurisdiction. Mr. Justice Stephen held that a State Court had no jurisdiction. Justices Owen and Simpson, on the other hand, held thafi the State law appertaining to Federal territory remained in force till specially superseded by Federal enactments. On the strength of this decision, accused was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment.
