DARING BURGLARIES.

[BI TELEGRAPH. — PBESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, 23rd November. Early on Saturday morning, the grocery store of Robert R«w was burglariously entered. The thieves attempted in vain to open a safe. The burglars were disturbed by a man returning home from work at the Telegraph Office, who noticed a light through the front window. He informed the police, who were quickly on the scene. The intruders then decamped. One of them jumped several high fences, and got out into Albert-street, and made good his escape. The police kept watch for the second man, but no other came from the building. Sergeant Walker found a hat and pair of boots on Row's premises. Later in the day the police proceeded to the premises of Mr. Fagan, next door, and observed a young man , named Bell, an assistant, wearing a pair of boots much too large for him. A detective took him to the police office in High-street, where the hat" and boots were produced. Then, in consequence of information received, the officers proceeded again to Mr. Pagan's, and placed young Fagan under arrest. The two young men were charged before the Police Court, and were remanded until Friday next,. CHRISTCHURCH, 24th November. An impudent robbery took place at Addington on Friday night in the house of a man named Code. Mrs. Code disturbed the burglar, "who was rifling the premises, but he made good his escape with £3 in cash. It was then discovered that Code had been drugged. He did not recover for a long time.
