At a meeting of the Masterton Benevolent Society to-day a resolution was passed requesting the Government to establish homes for chronic and incurable coses at the four chief centres, or in other suitable places. A representative of an English syndicate is at present in this district, making enquiries concerning the possibility of growing sugar beet in the Wairarapa. The syndicate proposes, should sufficient inducement offer, to erect three factories in the i colony. Tho tender of Messrs. Coracfine and Whitlaker, at £687,- has been accepted for the erection of a dairy factory hero for the Masterton Dairy Company. The appointment of manager to the faotory was deferretl for a week. It is reported that the tender of Mr. W. G. Beard has been accepted for a long lease of a portion of the church acre in tht main thoroughfare. Aftornoon tea with Peek, Frean and Co.'s celebrated biscuits is something to live for, especially if you use Waraell's Orient Tea. Coupons in every packet.
