Hutton (Commander of the Dominion Militia), who af tei wards commanded tKe First Mounted lufontry Brigade in tho Transvaal, ignored the jurisdiction of General Lord William Seymour (Commander of tho Imperial Forces in Caimdn) over contingents on tho point of sailing. General Button's action was upheld by the Earl of Minto (Governor-General of tho Dominion) and the Marquis of Lansdowno (Minister for War), ;md in consoquence General Seymour resigned, on tho ground that ho was bereft of authority. A Board of Enquiry was set up to enquire into the matter. This Board, which sat in London, has now made its report, vindicating General Seymour.
