He referred incidentally to the poor success that had attended similar exhibitions in Wellington City, and hoped for a revival of interest hi horticulture. ■ There was a capital attendance at the show lait ovening. A bright spot in the show was a stand of anemones from Mr. Bell's garden at Lowry Bay, and a number of heads of rhododendrons from Mr. T. Mason's garden at Lower Hutt ;. but of more general interest to the bulb grower was a uplendd collection of seedling bulbs cultivated by Mr. Mason, among them a big trumpet variety, given the nume of "Creole." which gives promiie of future excellence. Dr. Perry, also an enthusiastic grower of narcissi, had several rare blooms, including "Shakespeare," a trumpet-flower exhibited for the firit time in the colony. Messrs. Gibbons and Co. and Mr. F. Cooper also showed attractive collections of bulbs grown to a Mate of perfection, and the latter had, among various other spring blooms, a gr««n and a black specimen of the Aram lily, and some new sorts of single and double anemones. There were seven competitors in the table decoration competition, the judging of which has been left to the general public. Tho bouquet section lost some of its interest by the late arirtval of some intended exhibits. A tea-room was attached to the •how, and having been prettily decorated by; Mr. Mudgway. was in the charge of Mesdames Russell, Cattle, Collett, In«tone, Mariden, Falder, and Miss Sladden. 1 The Judges of pot plants and cut flowers wqre Messrs.
