Eighty-five factories are this year re- ; gistered in Masterton. • A strong committee has been appointed by the Wairarapa Caledonian Society to arrange for the annual ball. Bishop Wallis will hold a confirmation j service in St. Matthew's Church this evening. T^he Masterton A. and P. Assoiiation decided on Saturday to request the Government to 1 appoint one of the new veterinary surgeons to the' Wairarapa, and also to locate in this district one of the Shire stallions presented to the colony by Lord Rothschild. The Masterton Hockey Club opened its season on Saturday. Five leases of educational reserves belonging to the Wellington School Commissioners were disposed of by auction here on Saturday.
