GRAIN STATISTICS.

The Gazette issued yestevday contains a table showing the areas under crops in the colony and the f, r r.iin on hand. The harvest, it is stated, will be Inter than usual, but the prospects are good, and with genial weather the returns should bo quite up to' the average. The area .under wheat is 62,881 ncres jess than last year t but under oats there is an increase of 44,076 acres. The quantity of wheat on hand is somewhat less, but there is still a lai'Ke stock of oats. The totals of the areas sown or intended to be sown this season of the various cereals for the colony are.— Wheat, for threshing, 206.918 acres, against 269,740 for last year ; quantity on hand, 4,537,748 bushel*, against 5,036,373 bushels.' Oats, for tliresliinj/, 442.919 acres, against 308,243 acres; for chaffing, 164,079 acres, against 174,607 acres j for feeding down with stock, 13,748 acres, against 17,468 acres ; quantity of grain on hand, 4,341,316 bushels, against 2,752,444 bushels. Barley, for threshing, 30.650 acres, against 48,003 acres ; for feeding down with stock, 4217 acres, against 2692 acres ; quantity of grain on hand, 557,731 bushels, against 345,964 bushels. Rye,, for threshing, 1338 acres, against 2081 acres ; for feeding, 2213 acr:-s, against 2739 acres ; quantity of grain on hand, 14,651 buftiels, against 12,978 bushels. Alaizo, 13,917 acres, against 17,429 acres ; on hand, 209,773 bushels, against 1^4,543 bushels. Hops, 1044 acres, against 994 acres ; on hand, 175,1201b, against 146,7021b. It may be added that the grain on hand is estimated as at the lfifch October; last year it was estimated as at 15tb November.
