BANKRUPT ESTATES.
The unsecured debts in the estate of W. B. Rhodes, storekeeper, of Foxton, amount to £1529, the principal amounts being, in round figures :—Turnbull and Co., Wellington, J3578; Sclanders and Co., Nelson, £159; R. Hudson and Co., Dunedin, £114; Stewart and Co., Wellington, £89; Booth, M'Do'nald. and Co., Christchurch, £65; Briscoe, M'Neil and Co., Wellington, £50; C. H. E. Rhodes, Rata, £50; E. W. Mills and Co., Wellington, £49;-R. Allen, Christchurch, £42; D. Benjamin and Co., Wellington, £30; Christchurch Press •Co., £30; E. Anderson, Wellington, £27; J. Myers and Co., Wellington, £23; A. Briscoe arid Co., Dunedin, £22; E. Reeves and Co., Wellington, £22; Crown Dairy Co., £19; Mennie and Dey, Auckland, £19; 'Kirkpa^rick and Co., Nelson, £18;' Saunders, Gilberd and Co., Napier, £15 ;l; l Phoenix Biscuit Co., Dunedin, £15; N.Z. Times Co., £12. The only seciired creditor is A. E. G. Rhodes, of, Christchurch, who holds security (house and land at Foxton) valued at £420 for a debt of £320. The assets are:—Stock-in-trade, £700; book debts, £1263, estimated to produce £768; cash in hand, £52; horses, trap and harness, £90; furniture, £60; bills receivable, £55; surplus from securities in hands of the secured creditor (Mr. A. E. G. Rhodes), £100. Total, £1826 6s lOd. Estimated surplus of assets over liabilities, £297 5s lOd. The debtor informs the Official Assignee that he was obliged to file owing to a falling off in busiuess through the temporary closing down of some Foxton flaxiriills, also owing to illness, and to the cpmpetition of other storekeepers. The liabilities in the estate of Edward Murphy, engine-driver, Petone, amount to £60 18s Id, and assets cpnsist of a seven-roomed house and a quarter-acre section (leasehold) at Petone. In a statement to the Ofliciul Assignee the debtor say 3 that owing to lack of constant work he was unable to keep up payments on account of a property at Petone. He sold the property, which he -values at £800, for £400, but has the right to repurchase it at the former figure, and if he is allowed time he thinks he can &ell out well enough to pay his debts in full. The creditors have decided to hold over acceptance of a tender for the property until the 7lh proximo.
