Dr. Irving, a well-known medical man, is dead, aged sixty-four. GISBORNE, 28th October. One of the most important land sales held^ in the district took place yesterday, when the Theatre Royal was crowded with buyers for suburban and country properties. An area, of 532 acres at Whataupoko, subdivided into small farms, partly hill country, was sold at froni £9 lQs to £27 per acre. The Kaiti property, of 1548 acres, also within easy reach of the town, did not sell* sowell, failing to reach the owner's reserves. . A number of sections found purchasers at from £12 to £24 per acre. The Maratau and Caversham farms, containing some of the choicest Poverty Bay lands, were sold at from £20 to £28 an acre.
