WARNING TO THE PORTE. LONDON, 20th July. Mahommedan fanatics are prophesying and praying in the Turkish mosques for the defeat of the allied troops. A warning has been sent to the Porte by Russia against a similar tone being adopted by the Turkish newspapers. AN APPEAL TO THE SULTAN. ATTITUDE OF THE MAHOMETAN CLEIIGY. (Received July 21, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, 20th* July. Advices from Vienna state that 'the Russian Government has requested the Sultan of Turkey, as Caliph oi thq Moslem world, to tranquiiiise the Chinese Mahometans. CONSTANTINOPLE, 20th Juiy. The Mahometan olergy of this city have issued a protest, based upon the Koran, against any sympathy being shown by the Palace authorities on account of the Chinese massacres.
