SYDNEY, 29th May. Lord Roberts has cabled to the Governor expressing his gratification at the congratulatory messages received from New South Wales. Similar messages have been received in the other colonies. CHRISTCHURCH, 29th May. The officers of the Stock Department here have received a cable message from Mr. Trenery, who went in charge of the horses on the Tropea, that only three were lost on the voyage to Albany. (Received May 30, 10.6 a.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. ' A letter from a member of the Queensland Imperial Bushmen states that when their transport got to sea the men were put on Imperial rations, bread and tea at all three meals. "All the Contingents," he adds, "howled together like jackals" till the officers provided cheese and biscuits-
