Despite Victoria's action in appointing a separate representative, a conference o£ Premiers to discuss the suggestion of the Secretary of State for the Colonies for the sending of a Federal delegation to London will be held. It will take place in Queensland. South Australia acquiesced in the proposal of the Hon. Mr. Lyue (Premier of New South Wales) for a Federal conference. luvitationß have been sent to Victoria and Tasmania. ' MELBOURNE, This Day. The Premier (Hon. A. M'Lean) states that the Government had no motive in appointing the Hon. A. Deakin beyond that of securing the best man. Sir George Turner (life Premier of the colony) favours a joint delegation, consisting of the Hon. E. Burton (iNtiw South Wales), Hon. -At. Deakin (Victoria), and Hon. C. C. Kingston (South Australia).
