THE BIDDENDEN TRAGEDY. VERDICT OF WILFUL MURDER. [PRESS ASSOCIATION .] (Received February 8, 0.10 p.m.)
London. 7th Februarys An inquest has been held on the body of the man Whibley, a Sunday school teacher at Biddendcn, in Kent, who was shot dead by Bertha Paterson, daughter of the rector of the parish. The evidence showed that the shooting, instead of being the result of a sudden impulse during a quarrel, as at first supposed, was premeditated. The girl Paterson explained that she shot Whibley in order to protect the Sunday school children from his misconduct, but her allegations are apparently groundless. A verdict of Wilful Murder was returned against the girl.
