BRIGANDS ON THE AFGHAN BORDER. DESPERATE RESISTANCE TO A BRITISH ATTACK.
[press association.] (Received February 8, 0.10 p.m.) Calcutta, 7th February. A detachment from the garrison occupying the British frontier station of Edwardesabad, situated on tho Kuram River, a branch of the Indus, close to the Afghan border, has just returned to the fort alter dislodging a force of mountain brigands from their lair at Goornatti. The brigands offered desperate resistance, and the British force, before it overcame them, lost six men killed and also had fourteen wounded. Major Davidson, wing commander of the Second Sikh Infantry, was amongst those severely wounded.
