THE ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING.

[by telegraph — own correspondent.] Dunedin, This Day. The Auckland team of athletes will arrive to-night, and will be quartered at the Crown Hotel. The Canterbury men will come to Dunedin to-morrow. The weather is at present showery. Most of the local men were ou the track last night. T. E. Bennett, unattended, covered a mile in 4min 45sec. Kingston, M'Kenzie, Aldridge, Lowe, and Turnbull had a trial over 100 yards, which resulted iv all the meu being bunched at the finish. Brownlee is' jumping splendidly, and should win a couple of championships. Low will start only in the Quarter-Mile Hurdles. The programme includes a reception at the Town Hall on Saturday forenoon, a smoke ooQcert at Watson's Hotel on Saturday night, when the prizes will be presented, and a drive to Kuri Bush on Sunday.
