COLUMBUS'S REMAINS.
SAN DOMINGO STILL CLAIMS TO HAVE THEM. [PBESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received January 30, 9 a.m.) Madrid, 29th January. The Archbishop of San Domingo, in the ».est Indies, asserts that the bones lately removed from Havana Cathedral and reinterred at Seville in Spain as those of Columbus were not the remains of the great navigator, but of his son Diego. [San Domingo, it will be remembered, is the place where Columbus desired that his bones should rest, and after removal from Spain they lay in its cathedral from 1536 till 1796, but when the island passed for a time into the possession of France, they were believed to be removed to Havana. The ban Doraingans, however, have always claimed that they still remained in the old burial-place. It was recently stated as an accepted account of the position that when the transfer to Cuba was taking place the priests of San Domingo kept back haii and hid them in the south of the sacristy of the cathedral, where they were discovered in 1877.]
